NEW COLOUR AND PALATE EXPANDER!

I just got on Thursday the 23rd of June (we are now up to date! I started this a month late!) a new colour (hot pink!!) and my palate expander in!!!!!
The new wire and colour put on hurt a bit, especially on the one awkward tooth on the right I have. It is still not banded properly because I was in too much pain. The orthodontist told me maybe next visit it wont hurt as much and we can try to band it right

The palate expander does not hurt in any way except the first day to chew.
I found it awkward, and it cuts my cheeks up really nicely, so I use wax to cover the metal knobs that stick out and cut me.
I 'expand' my jaw every Monday and Friday at noon, as it is important to do it at the same time every day.
Expanding my jaw does not hurt, though I feel pressure. It is easy to get used to.
I have expanded twice and haven't seen much of a difference though I think my bite is aligning itself better already.
Eating is extremely awkward as food gets stuck between the roof of the mouth and the metal of the expander and I have had a LOT of excess saliva because the brain thinks it is food. This has slowed down after the first 4 days or so.
Talking has not been easy as I am slurring and lisping. Hard consonants are very difficult to say such as G, K and X. K has to be the hardest of them to say! Though talking is getting a lot easier over the days, it is still a huge set back and very frustrating.

not recent, a picture from about 3 weeks ago maybe?
shows shifting of teeth and my untouched bottom teeth,
as the overbite often conceals them.
this is the metal expander! the day I got it in.

new brace colour :)!
awkward tooth on right is moving

My next appointment is in 6 weeks for a new colour and wire change (I'm getting a thicker wire) and I'll update close to then
Patiently waiting to get my expander off, 6 months minimum! xx

FRONT 6 BRACES

Okay, the front six braces! Here we go!
I got a lilac colour which was really cute.
The braces hurt to get on, as you feel a lot of pressure. I have one tooth double banded because of the awkward angle it is at and that one hurt the most to be done. The braces make your teeth move SO fast, it's amazing! (1 month and the difference was noticeable)
day of, sexy side view

under view of my crookedness and overbite, a few weeks in,
looking MUCH better already

side view, a few weeks in and you can see the shift of the teeth
straightening themselves out.
this tooth used to be slanted to meet the front teeth
there was no space

one month-ish
right before my second appointment
more nicely rounded and less awkward looking
the front two teeth were originally overlapped and the others
were very in and out of alignment
The day of getting braces on there is pain to chew and they cut your lips up a lot. Wax will be your best friend <3.

SPACERS

I have no photo of them that will show up, I hate my phone!
The picture of my spacers in shows how frontward slanting my teeth are!
Anyways, spacers are these blue elastics that they slide in between your back teeth. I had four, two on each side. I found them extremely painful as I have ZERO spaces between any of my teeth. They were so hard to eat with because they hurt. I had them in for 2 weeks and one fell out the night before my appointment. They told me that was okay and the space wouldn't close up but it did :(. I had to get my spacers again.
The spacers prep for the palate expander, woo~

BEFORE

Guys, this is me before braces.
- severe over bite/ protrusion of front teeth (13mm)
- narrow, overgrown top jaw
- over-crowded teeth

you can see my top teeth; they all go at an angle toward
the protrusion of my front teeth @ 13 mm
I'm the one with glasses; I'm with my 11 year old cousin who is
also getting braces; note the way my teeth go inwards at the sides
and don't shape nice and round

I can't seem to get any good demonstrations of how terrible my teeth and overbite are right now (my phone hates me) but maybe in a few weeks or by the end or something I'll have them up.
